Actually, I just thought I’d share although it probably won’t switch how you feel about it. The QTE itself is not an escape or be raped scene. There’s not a rape scene at all. The QTE starts after she attacks rebuttles by kicking him and biting him, it’s a QTE after going after the gun and places an emphasis on her first human kill.

Having actually watched the footage in question, I’m disgusted and horrified and I don’t actually know what you thought you were achieving by messaging me.
Do you know what it’s like to be at the mercy of another human being? Do you know what it’s like every single day of your life to wonder if today is going to be the day that your luck runs out? When you walk down the street, do you count the number of people that could pose a threat to you, physically or sexually? Do you check every single doorway as you pass, every alleyway? Are you programmed to think ‘have I done everything possible to make myself the least interesting target?’
You have no fucking idea what it is to live with the threat of rape. To be conditioned to EXPECT it. So don’t fucking pat me on the head and say it’s okay because she kills him, as if that’s going to make it better.
What they’ve subjected her to is sexual assault. What they’ve turned the game into is torture porn. There is nothing to celebrate about her being subjected to sexual assault, and you need to ask yourself why you think a woman is a more compelling character if she’s been subjected to that. Why you think her story is more interesting if she has to go through that. Was Duke Nukem abused as a child in his reboot? I don’t fucking think so.
You’re right, you aren’t going to change my mind and I’m appreciate it if you didn’t belittle me or any rape victims by trying to lessen the impact of what is a sexual assault of a main character in a game.
